Council has placed the Road Network Management Plan (retitled Road Asset Management Plan) out on public exhibition and is inviting submissions from the community until COB on Monday, 12 October 2020.

“The Road Network Management Plan is a guide to public road management for urban and rural roads throughout the Shire,” said Mayor Peter Petty.

“Council has granted an extended submission period to ensure that all road users, across the Shire, have the opportunity to consider the revised Plan and have their say.  All submissions will be considered by Council for inclusion in the new Road Asset Management Plan which directs the management of all roads within the Council maintained road network.”

“It is however, very important for our community to understand that Council has limited resources and the standards included in the Plan are the targeted outcomes and may not necessarily reflect the existing situation.  The Plan will assist in establishing a consistent standard and serviceability for a safe road network,” added Mayor Petty.

The revised Plan proposes amended rural road classifications to include a new Category E for lower order roads and amendments to the description for categories have been made to allow for this new category.  Adjustments to standards and intervention responses are also being proposed.

“Submissions from our community will assist Council to establish road maintenance strategies and provide information to assist in effective lobbying of Government sources for additional road funding through reliable and accurate data,” the Mayor concluded.

The draft Plan can be viewed HERE and any submissions should be addressed in writing to Council via email council@tenterfield.nsw.gov.au or in writing to the Chief Executive, Tenterfield Shire Council, PO Box 214, Tenterfield NSW 2372.
